A Day in the Life

A Quality Assurance Chemist in agri-products spends their day in a laboratory setting, conducting various tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished fertilizers and agrochemicals. They analyze chemical compositions, ensure adherence to specifications, troubleshoot quality issues, and maintain detailed documentation for regulatory compliance.

  • Perform chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods (fertilizers, pesticides).
  • Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment such as HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, and titrators.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods for new agricultural products.
  • Investigate out-of-specification results and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and review Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and other quality documentation.
  • Ensure all testing procedures comply with national and international quality standards (e.g., ISO, SLS).
  • Collaborate with production and R&D teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
