A Day in the Life
Ensure food product quality and safety through in-process and finished product testing, documentation, supplier audits, and corrective action management in a food or hospitality business.
- Conduct in-process quality checks on production lines (weight, temperature, seal integrity, sensory)
- Perform or coordinate finished product testing against specifications before release
- Review and approve batch production records and QC test results
- Manage non-conformance reports and corrective actions for quality failures
- Conduct supplier raw material incoming inspections and approvals
- Maintain HACCP records and CCP monitoring documentation
- Assist in internal and third-party quality audits (SLSI, BRC, retail customer audits)
- Update quality management system documentation (SOPs, specifications, work instructions)
Work Environment
Quality control laboratory and food production floor. Combination of lab testing and floor-based quality inspection. Critical compliance role with food safety legal responsibility.
Typical hours: 48h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
