A Day in the Life
You handle day-to-day public relations activities — writing communications, coordinating media enquiries, managing social channels, and supporting PR campaigns that protect and promote organisational reputation.
- Respond to and route media enquiries to appropriate spokespeople
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and backgrounders
- Update company website news sections and social media channels with approved content
- Compile daily media monitoring summaries for management
- Coordinate logistics for press events, launches, and briefings
- Maintain and update the media contact database
- Support preparation of newsletters, annual reports, and stakeholder communications
- Track social media conversations and flag reputational risks to the PR Manager
Work Environment
Office-based communications role within a corporate communications team or PR agency. In Sri Lanka, PR Officers are common in banks, telcos, large corporates, NGOs, and government ministries. More execution-focused than a PR Executive role — heavier on coordination and writing tasks.
