About This Role
Police Constables are the primary law enforcement officers of the Sri Lanka Police Service. Recruited at A/L level through the National Police Commission. Duties include crime prevention, traffic control, community policing, and investigation support.
A Day in the Life
A Police Constable's day is highly varied, involving patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergency calls, maintaining public order, and assisting in crime investigations. They interact directly with the public, enforce traffic laws, and provide security during events. The role is physically demanding and requires constant vigilance and adherence to legal procedures.
- Patrolling assigned beats on foot or in vehicles to deter crime and maintain public order

- Conducting preliminary investigations and taking statements from witnesses
