Supervises tea plucking gangs on the estate, ensuring correct two-leaf-and-a-bud standard, weighing, and recording daily leaf collection. Entry-level supervisory role, often filled from experienced estate workers. NAITA certificate in plantation operations available.

A Day in the Life

Supervise a team of tea pluckers on the estate field, ensuring correct plucking standard (two leaves and a bud), achieving daily harvest targets, and maintaining field quality records.

  • Muster plucking gang at 5:30 AM and assign field sections
  • Monitor plucking standard (two leaves and a bud) throughout the day
  • Weigh and record individual plucker outputs at field checkpoints
  • Inspect for coarse plucking, trash, and quality violations
  • Report daily plucking totals to Estate Officer
  • Manage basic field maintenance (shade tree trimming, drain clearing)
  • Maintain plucker attendance and overtime records

Full outdoor field work on tea estate slopes in hill country weather. Physically active role requiring walking steep terrain daily.
