A Day in the Life
You are the frontline operational leader — directly supervising a team of workers or operators during a shift or in a specific operational area, ensuring work targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and issues are resolved in real time.
- Brief the team at shift start — assign tasks, review targets, and safety updates
- Monitor team performance against daily production or service targets
- Ensure quality standards and SOPs are followed at all workstations
- Resolve operational problems and equipment issues in real time
- Record attendance, overtime, and production/service data in shift logs
- Conduct regular floor walks to check safety, cleanliness, and operational compliance
- Report shift performance and incidents to the Operations Manager
- Identify and address team performance issues — coaching and on-the-spot training
- Liaise with maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams on operational needs
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed by all team members
Work Environment
Factory floor, warehouse, logistics hub, retail stockroom, or call centre operations. Physically present with the team at all times during a shift. May involve rotating shifts including nights and weekends. Common in manufacturing (garments, FMCG), logistics, retail operations, and call centre supervision across Sri Lanka.
