A Laboratory Supervisor manages the daily operations of a specific section or shift within a laboratory. Their day involves overseeing testing procedures, ensuring quality control, troubleshooting issues, training junior staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of laboratory technologists and technicians
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control protocols
- Review and validate laboratory results for accuracy and completeness
- Troubleshoot technical issues with instruments and assays
- Provide training and mentorship to new or junior laboratory staff
- Manage staff scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation for their section/shift
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies, initiating orders as needed
Work Environment
