A Day in the Life
IIoT Specialists design and implement Industrial Internet of Things systems — connecting factory machinery, sensors, and control systems to data platforms for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimisation.
- Design IIoT sensor network architectures for factory environments
- Integrate PLCs and SCADA systems with cloud platforms
- Configure MQTT/OPC-UA protocols for machine data
- Build real-time dashboards for industrial operations
- Troubleshoot connectivity between OT and IT systems
- Develop predictive maintenance models from sensor data
- Train operations teams on IIoT system usage
Work Environment
Factory floor and office environment. Bridges IT and Operational Technology (OT). Highly specialised emerging field.
Typical hours: 46h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Factory integration work can require after-hours commissioning. Good WLB otherwise.
