About This Role
Uses satellite data and digital mapping to monitor land use, deforestation, and natural resource distribution.
A Day in the Life
GIS specialists collect, analyse, and visualise spatial data — building maps, running geospatial queries, and supporting land-use, environmental, and infrastructure planning decisions.
- Process satellite and drone imagery
- Build and maintain GIS databases
- Create thematic maps for reports
- Perform spatial analysis (overlay, buffer, network)
- Coordinate field data collection
- Support EIA and land-use planning teams
- Integrate GIS with web and mobile apps
Work Environment
Office with occasional field surveys. Strong collaboration with planning, environment, and engineering teams.
Typical hours: 44h/week · WLB score 8/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Project deadlines can be intense but generally good WLB. Field trips add variety.
