A Day in the Life
A GIS & Remote Sensing Analyst spends their day acquiring, processing, and analyzing satellite imagery and geospatial data. They use specialized software to create maps, models, and visualizations that help solve complex problems in urban planning, disaster management, environmental monitoring, and resource allocation.
- Acquire and process satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and other remote sensing data
- Perform image classification, change detection, and spatial analysis using GIS software
- Develop and maintain geospatial databases
- Create high-quality maps, charts, and reports to visualize spatial information
- Apply remote sensing techniques for environmental monitoring (e.g., deforestation, water quality)
- Analyze geospatial data for urban planning, infrastructure development, and disaster risk assessment
- Collaborate with domain experts (e.g., urban planners, environmental scientists) to understand project requirements
- Develop custom scripts or models for automated spatial data processing
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Work Environment
