A Day in the Life
A Furniture Designer spends their day conceptualizing new furniture pieces, sketching designs, creating technical drawings, selecting materials, and often overseeing the prototyping and manufacturing process. They blend aesthetics, ergonomics, and functionality to create appealing and practical furniture.
- Research market trends, materials, and manufacturing techniques
- Develop design concepts and sketches for new furniture pieces
- Create detailed technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, and hardware
- Collaborate with engineers, manufacturers, and artisans during prototyping
- Oversee the production process to ensure design integrity and quality
- Present designs to clients or internal teams
- Evaluate prototypes for ergonomics, durability, and aesthetics
- Stay updated on sustainable design practices and material innovations
Work Environment
