A Day in the Life
A Food Technologist in Product Development spends their day researching market trends, experimenting with ingredients, creating and refining recipes, and conducting sensory and shelf-life tests. They work closely with R&D, marketing, and production teams to bring new food products from concept to commercialization.
- Researching consumer trends and market gaps for new food products
- Developing new food product concepts and formulations
- Experimenting with different ingredients, flavors, and processing methods
- Conducting sensory evaluations (taste, texture, aroma) with panels
- Performing shelf-life studies and stability tests on new products
- Scaling up recipes from lab to pilot plant to full production
- Ensuring new products meet nutritional, safety, and regulatory standards
- Collaborating with marketing, quality assurance, and production teams
Work Environment
