A Day in the Life
A Food Scientist spends their day in a lab or pilot plant, conducting experiments to understand food properties, developing new recipes, and testing product safety and quality. They analyze data, write reports, and collaborate with marketing and production teams.
- Conducting laboratory analyses on food samples (e.g., nutritional content, microbial testing)
- Developing and testing new food product formulations and recipes
- Evaluating raw ingredients for quality and suitability
- Designing and executing experiments to improve food preservation methods
- Analyzing data from sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies
- Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards (SLSI, ISO)
- Preparing technical reports and presentations on research findings
- Collaborating with production, marketing, and supply chain teams
Work Environment
