A Day in the Life
A Food Safety & Quality Lead is responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality systems within a specific area or shift of a food production facility. This role focuses on monitoring biological and chemical contaminants, ensuring compliance with standards, and leading a team of quality controllers.
- Supervise and train quality control staff on food safety and quality procedures.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure adherence to HACCP plans.
- Conduct regular inspections of production lines, raw materials, and finished products.
- Investigate and resolve minor quality deviations and non-conformities.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all quality checks and audits.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to address and prevent quality issues.
- Assist in preparing for internal and external food safety audits.
Work Environment
Works primarily on the production floor and in an on-site quality control laboratory. The environment can be dynamic, noisy, and requires strict adherence to hygiene and safety protocols. May involve shift work.
