A Day in the Life
A Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager is a senior professional responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all aspects of food safety and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) within a food production facility or organization. This role ensures compliance with national and international standards, protecting consumer health and brand integrity.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety and quality management systems (HACCP, ISO, FSSC).
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance team, including training and performance evaluation.
- Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Manage all aspects of regulatory compliance, including local and international food laws.
- Investigate and resolve major quality and safety incidents, customer complaints, and product recalls.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, procurement, and sales teams to integrate quality throughout the value chain.
- Develop and manage the QA budget and resource allocation.
- Report on food safety and quality performance to senior management.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based for strategic planning and documentation, with frequent visits to the production floor for oversight, audits, and troubleshooting. The environment requires strict adherence to hygiene and safety protocols.
