A Day in the Life
A Food Safety & Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive food safety and quality management systems. This role ensures that all agricultural and animal-based food products meet stringent chemical and biological safety standards from farm to fork.
- Develop and implement HACCP, ISO 22000, and other food safety management systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify critical control points in the supply chain.
- Perform internal and external audits to ensure compliance with standards.
- Manage and investigate customer complaints and non-conformities, implementing corrective actions.
- Train staff on food safety protocols, hygiene, and quality procedures.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly.
- Collaborate with suppliers, production, and R&D teams on quality initiatives.
- Prepare reports and present findings to management on food safety performance.
Work Environment
Work involves a mix of office-based policy development and documentation, on-site inspections in processing plants or farms, and collaborative meetings. It requires a keen eye for detail and adherence to strict hygiene.
