A Day in the Life
A Food Quality and Nutrition Analyst spends their day in a laboratory, meticulously analyzing the chemical composition of food products. They verify nutritional claims, assess quality parameters, and ensure products meet regulatory standards for macronutrients, micronutrients, and other components.
- Conduct laboratory tests to determine macronutrient (protein, fat, carbs) and micronutrient (vitamins, minerals) content.
- Analyze food samples for moisture content, pH, acidity, and other quality parameters.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, and atomic absorption spectrometers.
- Interpret analytical data and prepare detailed reports on nutritional profiles and quality attributes.
- Verify nutritional claims on food labels against laboratory results.
- Collaborate with product development, quality assurance, and regulatory teams.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods for food components.
- Ensure all laboratory procedures comply with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and ISO standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and maintain calibration records.
Work Environment
