A Food Process Technologist optimizes industrial processes for converting raw materials into safe, high-quality, and long-lasting food products. Their day involves monitoring production lines, implementing process improvements, conducting quality checks, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Monitoring and optimizing food processing parameters (e.g., temperature, time, pressure)
- Conducting quality control checks on raw materials, in-process, and finished products
- Troubleshooting process deviations and implementing corrective actions
- Collaborating with R&D to scale up new product formulations to production
- Ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP standards
- Analyzing production data to identify areas for process improvement and waste reduction
- Training production staff on new procedures and quality standards
- Documenting process specifications, quality records, and production reports
Work Environment
Works in a hybrid environment, spending significant time on the factory floor to monitor processes and troubleshoot, as well as in an office for data analysis and reporting. The factory environment can be noisy, require safety gear, and involve working around machinery.
