A Day in the Life
Provide food and beverage service to guests in a hotel restaurant, café, or bar — taking orders, serving food and drinks, maintaining table cleanliness, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Set up dining tables and restaurant area before service
- Welcome guests, present menus, and take food and beverage orders
- Serve food and drinks accurately and to service standard
- Respond to guest requests during the meal (refills, condiments, allergies)
- Assist guests with menu choices and recommend dishes
- Clear tables after service and reset for next guests
- Handle payment through POS (cash, card)
- Maintain cleanliness of service areas throughout shift
Work Environment
Entry-level F&B service position in a hotel restaurant, resort dining outlet, or standalone restaurant. In Sri Lanka's tourism-driven F&B sector, service attendants interact daily with international guests and must maintain professional service standards.
