A Day in the Life
You develop and execute marketing strategies that grow Sri Lankan product exports in international markets — from Ceylon tea in the UK to apparel in the US and spices in Europe. You bridge Sri Lankan manufacturers with global buyers, distributors, and retail chains.
- Research international market trends, competitor positioning, and buyer preferences
- Develop export marketing plans for target markets (EU, US, Middle East, Asia)
- Coordinate participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions
- Liaise with EDB (Export Development Board) for market intelligence and grants
- Manage relationships with overseas agents, distributors, and importers
- Create marketing collateral adapted for international audiences
- Negotiate export contracts and pricing with international buyers
- Analyse export sales data and adjust marketing strategy
- Coordinate with production and logistics teams on delivery commitments
- Monitor global branding consistency across export markets
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with frequent international travel to trade fairs (Frankfurt, London, Dubai, Tokyo) and buyer meetings. Requires working across time zones and coordinating with overseas contacts. Team meetings with production, logistics, and finance are daily.
