A Day in the Life
An Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring EHS programs to ensure workplace compliance with environmental laws and safety regulations. Their day involves conducting inspections, delivering training, investigating incidents, and maintaining records.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify and rectify safety hazards and environmental risks
- Ensure compliance with local environmental laws (e.g., CEA) and occupational safety regulations (e.g., Factories Ordinance)
- Deliver EHS induction and ongoing training to employees on safety procedures and environmental awareness
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports
- Maintain accurate EHS records, including incident logs, inspection reports, and training records
- Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies and procedures
- Monitor waste management practices and environmental performance indicators
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility among staff
Work Environment
A mix of office-based administrative tasks, record-keeping, and report writing, combined with frequent fieldwork conducting inspections, audits, and training sessions in various operational areas (e.g., factory floors, construction sites).
