An Environmental Compliance Officer ensures that an organization's operations adhere to environmental laws and regulations. This involves monitoring activities, conducting internal audits, preparing reports for regulatory bodies, and advising management on best practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Monitor company operations to ensure compliance with local and national environmental laws (e.g., NEA).
- Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to identify potential non-compliance issues.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports, permit applications, and other documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and procedures (e.g., waste management, spill prevention).
- Advise management and staff on environmental best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate environmental incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with government environmental authorities (e.g., CEA) during inspections or inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental legislation and industry standards.
Work Environment
A blend of office-based administrative work, report writing, and site visits to various operational areas within an industrial facility or project site, which may involve exposure to different environmental conditions.
