About This Role
ASPs are senior police officers appointed through the SLPSC open competitive examination (degree-holders) or promoted from Inspector rank. They command police stations, head specialised units (CID, STF), and serve as OICs of divisions.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) commands police stations or specialized units, overseeing law enforcement operations, crime investigation, and maintaining public order. The day involves administrative duties, field supervision, community engagement, and strategic planning.
- Command and supervise police personnel at a station or unit level
- Oversee criminal investigations and ensure proper legal procedures are followed
- Develop and implement strategies for crime prevention and public order maintenance
- Manage resources, logistics, and administrative functions of the assigned unit
